Backgammon Rocks ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you visit or use our website, web app, mobile apps, and online game services available at backgammon.rocks.
If you create an account, contact us, or use online multiplayer features, we may collect information you choose to provide, such as:
When you use Backgammon Rocks, we may process service-related information such as:
We use cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to operate the site and game, remember settings, keep you signed in, measure performance, prevent abuse, and understand how our services are used.
We also use measurement tags and related identifiers or parameters to understand how users find and use the site. Depending on your browser settings and location, these tags may use cookie-based storage or limited measurement signals.
We use analytics and conversion measurement technologies, including services provided by Google such as Google Analytics 4 and Google Ads conversion measurement. These services may collect information such as page views, interactions, landing pages, referrers, campaign parameters, approximate location, browser and device details, and conversion events.
Google may collect and process data in accordance with its own policies. You can learn more here:
Our website and browser game use InMobi Choice's standalone Consent Management Platform to collect, store, and communicate privacy choices, including consent for Google Analytics. The browser game does not load web advertising placements or share email-derived advertising identifiers. The CMP may process consent signals, IP address, approximate location, browser and device information to provide the appropriate regional controls.
You can review or change your choices through the privacy preferences link or Game Settings where the CMP is available. See InMobi's Privacy Policy for more information.
Our Android and iOS apps use Appodeal's advertising mediation platform, including advertising services such as Google AdMob and Meta Audience Network, to request and display advertising at natural breaks between games. Depending on your location, consent choices, device settings, and advertising partner configuration, Appodeal and participating advertising partners may process information such as IP address, approximate location, device or advertising identifiers, diagnostics, performance data, ads viewed, and interactions with ads.
We use Appodeal's consent-management functionality, including Google's User Messaging Platform where applicable, to request and respect privacy choices before requesting mobile ads. These providers process advertising data under their own policies. See Appodeal's Privacy Policy, Google's Privacy Policy, and Meta's Privacy Policy for more information.
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
Backgammon Rocks is the data controller and sender for the optional newsletter. Subscription is not required to create or use an account. The subscription checkbox is off by default, and accepting the Terms of Use does not subscribe you to marketing email.
If you subscribe, we use your email address and may use your username and language to address you and send relevant content. Messages may include backgammon.rocks news, new game modes and updates, tournament information, and special offers. We normally send no more than two newsletter messages per month, although an occasional additional message may be sent for a major tournament or important release.
Local storage: Some settings and identifiers are stored on your device through cookies, browser storage, or similar technologies.
Server-side data: Account data, online game state, ratings, and service logs may be stored on our servers or infrastructure providers in order to operate the service.
Security: We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
We do not sell your personal information in the ordinary course of operating the site. We may share information with third parties only as needed to run, analyze, secure, and monetize the service.
These third parties may include:
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your information, including:
Some U.S. state privacy laws use broad definitions of “sale” or “sharing” that may include disclosures for targeted advertising. Where applicable, the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control above lets you exercise that choice. You may also contact us to request access, correction, or deletion, or to appeal a response to a privacy request.
This section supplements the rest of this Privacy Policy for California residents. It describes our practices during the preceding 12 months and applies to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the “CCPA”), applies to us.
Categories collected. Depending on how you use the service, we may collect identifiers (such as account ID, username, email address, a SHA-256 hash derived from a verified email, IP address, and online identifiers); internet or other electronic network activity (such as page views, ad interactions, gameplay, diagnostics, and browser or device information); approximate geolocation derived from an IP address; commercial information relating to subscriptions or advertising interactions; and inferences such as preferences derived from gameplay and settings. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
Sources and purposes. We collect this information directly from you, automatically from your browser or device, and from the service providers and advertising, analytics, authentication, and infrastructure partners identified in this Policy. We use it for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 3, including providing and securing the service, maintaining accounts and preferences, debugging, analytics, fraud prevention, advertising, and legal compliance.
Disclosure, sale, and sharing. During the preceding 12 months, we may have disclosed each category described above to the service providers and other recipients described in Section 5 for the stated business purposes. We do not sell personal information for money. However, California law may treat the disclosure of identifiers, internet activity, approximate location, and related advertising data to advertising partners for interest-based advertising as a “sale” or “sharing.” You may opt out of that activity using the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” control above. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
Your California rights. Subject to legal exceptions, you may request to know or access the personal information we collect, use, disclose, sell, or share; request deletion; request correction of inaccurate information; opt out of sale or sharing; and limit certain uses of sensitive personal information. You also have the right not to receive discriminatory treatment for exercising these rights.
To opt out of advertising sale or sharing, use the control above; no account is required. To submit another CCPA request, email support@backgammon.rocks with “California Privacy Request” in the subject. We may ask for information reasonably necessary to verify and fulfill the request and will use it only for that purpose. An authorized agent may submit a request for you, but we may require proof of authorization and may verify your identity directly. Where applicable, we also honor recognized browser-based opt-out preference signals. You may use these methods without being charged or creating an account.
Withdrawing newsletter consent is free and does not affect your account or any processing that took place before withdrawal. To access, correct, delete, or change newsletter data, contact support@backgammon.rocks. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority, including the CNIL in France.
If you are located in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, or another jurisdiction with consent requirements, InMobi's CMP may ask for your consent to use cookies and personal data for analytics and conversion measurement. Native Android and iOS apps use Appodeal's consent-management functionality, including Google's consent tools where applicable, for mobile advertising.
Where required, analytics, advertising, or conversion measurement storage may remain restricted until you make a choice. If consent is denied, certain analytics, advertising, or conversion measurement features may be limited or disabled. Where permitted by applicable law and our configuration, limited cookieless measurement signals may still be processed to measure traffic, model conversions, and detect invalid traffic.
Kit is based in the United States, so subscriber data may be processed in the United States or other countries outside the EEA. Where required, these transfers are covered by an approved transfer mechanism, such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses. More information is available in Kit’s Privacy Policy and Data Processing Addendum.
Backgammon Rocks is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will review the request.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16.
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain accounts, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and protect the site from abuse. Retention periods vary depending on the type of data and the purpose for which it was collected.
Newsletter contact data is kept while you remain subscribed. We review inactive newsletter records after three years without meaningful contact. Consent evidence is kept for as long as reasonably necessary to demonstrate compliance. After you unsubscribe, we stop campaigns and retain only the minimum suppression record (normally the email address and unsubscribe date) for at least three years so the address is not added again by mistake.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated version on this page and revise the "Last updated" date.
